A couple more Acie Law notes

1.) Wednesday, August 8th is Aggie Night at Minute Maid Park in Houston as the Astros take on the Cubs at 7:05 and Acie will be in town to throw out the first pitch.

You can order your tickets at www.astros.com/aggie and use the password: whoop

See ya there.

2.) Acie will make his summer league debut on Friday night (July 13) with the Hawks' summer league team. They will be playing in the Rocky Mountain Reveue which takes place annually in Salt Lake City. I do not have any information on TV as of yet, but last year NBA-TV showed quite a few of the RMR games on a tape-delay basis and I would assume they would do the same this year. The league is also streaming games on the web live from the Vegas Summer League this year so keep your fingers crossed that they may do the same from Salt Lake City.

The Hawks' schedule in Salt Lake City is as follows:
July 13 - vs. Utah, 6 p.m.
July 14 - vs. San Antonio, 3:30 p.m.
July 15 - Off Day
July 16 - vs. Dallas, 3:30 p.m.
July 17 - vs. Chicago, 1:15 p.m.
July 18 - Off Day
July 19 - vs. Utah, 6 p.m.
July 20 - vs. Philadelphia, 11 a.m.
(all times are central)

3.) Finally, do not forget that Antanas Kavaliauskas makes his debut with the Rockets tomorrow (July 10) at 9:30 (central time). The game will be aired live on NBA-TV and on NBA.com.

2007 Draft Update

Acie Law

Last Thursday, the Atlanta Hawks made Acie Law the newest member of their team by taking the 6’4” guard with the 11th overall pick in the draft.

Acie will be joining the youngest team in the NBA and a team that could have a VERY bright future ahead of them.

The Hawks also took Florida forward Al Horford with the 3rd overall pick in the draft.

Law and Horford will be joining young players such as Josh Childress, Joe Johnson, Speedy Claxton, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Zaza Pachulia and Sheldon Williams.

Coming off a disappointing and injury riddled 30-52 season, in which no individual player played more than 72 games, the Hawks have nowhere to look but up as they head into the 2007-2008 season.

The addition of both Horford and Law will help to make the Hawks an immediate factor in the eastern conference next season.

I guess now I finally have that excuse I have been looking for to order the NBA League Pass. [right honey?]

Antanas Kavaliauskas

There was an outside shot that Antanas Kavaliauskas would have been taken by someone seeking help at the forward position late in the second round.

The bad news is that Kavaliauskas did not get the phone call he was hoping for as he went undrafted.

The good news is that the first team to call Antanas after the draft was over was the Houston Rockets. Kavaliauskas has agreed to a free-agent contract with the team and will join their summer-league team in Vegas when they begin play on July 10th.

Kavaliauskas is facing very long odds to make the Rockets’ roster next season, but you can be assured that he will work harder than anyone at that camp trying to show that he is worthy of a spot.

You can follow all of the Vegas summer league action at:

The Rockets’ schedule is as follows:
July 10 vs. L.A. Clippers
July 12 vs. Dallas
July 13 vs. Washington
July 14 vs. Sacramento
July 15 vs. New Orleans
